What is quartz countertop?
Unlike marble or granite countertops, quartz countertops are synthetic, made of quartz chips or dust and resin. Resin is a plant or synthetic polymer, which can imitate the appearance of natural materials. Although most worktops are made of quartz, up to 15% of worktops may be resin and pigment.

Composition. The mineral content is about 93%. High mineral content endows quartz with unique appearance and touch. In contrast, 66% of minerals and 33% of polymers on the solid surface give the material a silky, soapy feel.
Hardness. The process of making quartz mesa saves the hardest mineral (quartz) and eliminates softer minerals and impurities. This means that the quartz table top is harder and more durable than the natural flat granite.
